Loving my city/country lifestyle, walking along Bondi Beach!! #bondi #eckharttolle #mindful #lifestyle

Yoga on sunset - I will be back for another walk in the morning! Bondi is divine!!

I am in Sydney once again and the weather is a delightful 26 degrees as I meet friends for breakfast and head off for a walk along Bondi beach. There are surfers sitting out on the smooth water and I realise that they must just like sitting out in the salty sea because there is little hope of a wave this morning. I can understand why they would get hooked on being down here because it is absolutely magical.

This farmer’s wife blends in well, with my jogging gear on, phone in hand. A girl roller blades past with four dogs on leads, running beside her. Some people are jogging on the sand while others are walking along the footpath. The Bondi lifeguards are out and the flags are up for the early swimmers.

The last of the pink sunrise sits across the sea line as the sun sparkles across the water. I have to keep stopping to really enjoy the view, looking out for the dolphins and the whales that were here just a few days ago. When high on the headlands I do my yoga practice. It is delicious with the sun on my face and the smooth sea rolling steadily in and out.

There is a man snorkeling around the rocks, another fishing on a quiet ledge. An old man walks cautiously by; he has his hand wrapped in a bandage. A group of young mothers walking with their jiggling babies in prams. I get back into walking and increase my pace so I can feel my legs working and my heart rate increase. I feel alive.

Howard is coming up tonight once the wheat paddock is in. We will be together with our four girls for the weekend, which is always so wonderful. You get to a stage with your children when you realise each stage is going faster than you think. I figure the only way to slow this down a little is to be totally mindful and grateful for the precious times when we can all be together. The girls are growing up and spreading their wings. As much as I miss our girls that have moved out, we want them to feel like independent individuals who can do anything they set out to do. We are all great mates and that is so wonderful too.

I will take Eckhart Tolle’s advice and try to keep my focus on what we are doing, not on other concerns or business things this weekend. I read on Instagram this morning a message from Eckhart ’Not to be able to stop thinking is a dreadful affliction, but we don’t realize this because almost everyone is suffering from it.’ (Instagram eckharttolle)

To be mindful takes practice and trust but to surrender to the beauty in the Now brings great peace and calm. I love my city, country lifestyle and these days I realise that together they are creating a lovely balance for us as a family.  We are not stuck in a routine that feels restricting, we are constantly inspired by the lifestyle choices those around us are making and ironically stepping away from the farm on a regular basis is creating great opportunity for our farm business.

Both the country and the city has such beauty and a magic available, for those who dare to stop being so busy and take a look. Its amazing what is all around when you are on the lookout for beauty and thoughtfulness, co-incidences and synchronicity. I was witness to great kindness this morning in the city, when a young girl chased a lady who had left her cash in the ATM. The two ladies met and the layers of $50 notes where handed over with great smiles. Just imagine if we all had time for gratitude, kindness and awareness of the glorious detail of Now. How different would society be? What great things we could achieve together?

Bribbaree Show, One direction, Boarding School and Hay Making. What a week!!

#Champion Bloom of the Show!! One Direction Concert Breakfast at Bronte Beach   Mowing Hay    Yo u wouldn’t believe what I have been doing in the past week. The local Bribbaree Show was on during the final weekend of the school holidays so our 2 youngest girls entered a few events on their horses and Howard joined in the team penning. I walked around with our eldest daughter, passing some very well groomed dogs on our way to the equestrian area. The show ground was filling with families and local women were dropping off cakes and sandwich fillings at the canteen, while the children convinced their parents to let them go on some rides. Howard entered a big red rose for me, that had opened in our garden a few days earlier and I am pleased to ‘announce’ that we won ‘Best Bloom of the Show’. What fun!! We had tea, sandwiches and cake for lunch, Howard skipping the fatty food this year. By late afternoon we gathered with everyone for a cool drink befor

Can creativity be good for our health?

Hello, It has been a while between blogs but as my intention for 2023 is to write full time, I should manage a regular post once again. Writing has always been something I do early in the morning or in the tiny spaces in between all else, but this year I am putting creativity at the top of my priority list.  If you know me well, you would know I have always wanted to write a book. The sensible project would be to share what I have learnt over the past 12 years about health, yoga, breath work and mindfulness, to support the healing of trauma and rural challenges, but at the moment it is a farm based novel that is flowing well. Perhaps all of the above topics will turn up in the lives of my characters, we will see.  It is so liberating, giving myself permission to do what I love, here on the farm. Although on some level it also feels isolating to be here on my own each day at the desk. The opportunity to witness this landscape from this quiet space feels deeply healing and quite confront

Discovering Meditation in small stages - 3 Audio Recordings attached.

10.11.23    Discovering Meditation   If I can define meditation in the simplest way, I would say meditation is ‘ being in the space in between our thoughts .’    Meditation is no ‘easy’ task when we have over 70 000 thoughts a day.  This is why I stepped todays class through a 3-stage process, in preparation for a brief meditation experience. Below is an explanation of each of these stages I taught and why these techniques are great preparation for potent stillness.    Stage 1.   It is more challenging to meditate with lots of tension in the body, so the first step is to let go of the extra holding that we may not even be aware of. This is done by noticing the body and slightly moving each area, or tensing and releasing each body part. (Starting at the feet, legs, spine and then the belly as we breathe. Open and close the hands, stretch the arms, lift and drop the shoulders, carefully stretch the neck and face.)   Stage 2.   Secondly, we can begin to be more aware of our breathing patt
