A free audio recording - The Body Noticing the Breath
Following on from yesterday's post, I have attached a brief audio practice. This is designed so you can develop a reliable resource within yourself that can be used during rushed, nervous, stressful or unsettled times.
This is an example of how self care doesn't have to take a lot of time, when your life feels full.
We want a mind that is clear thinking, creative and focused, body full of energy, digestive system that is working really well and an emotional state that is true. This helps us make better choices when under pressure, communicate in a helpful way and remain grounded in our best qualities.
A body that is witness to a steady breath is not moving into fight or flight. It is not slowing down all main bodily functions, to prioritise a threat. If you are experiencing a challenging time at the moment, you want your immune system keeping you well and your body working for you, not against you. Breath awareness supports these healthy functions.
Notice your body is lead by your breathing patterns. Choose to get the most from the physical support you can tap into. If your breathing remains smooth, even during the most difficult of times, the body can remain calm and not a tense ball of agitation.
Basically - if you are experiencing a hard time in your life, be that in your environment, workplace, home life, community or related to the wider global issues DON'T TELL YOUR BODY WHAT IS GOING ON!!! Your body is watching the breath - keep it smooth and steady and your body becomes an empowered resource of energy, when you need it most.
