Its OK to follow your dreams, even in the middle of harvest. Just some good planning!

On the surface it would appear I am a terrible farmers wife. Harvest starts and I catch the early flight to Melbourne, leaving Howard, the men working with him and Stephanie, our eldest daughter, to the 11 hour days and 35 degree heat. Getting your own goals off the ground isn’t always easy, in fact the weight of ‘responsibilities’ can offer a lifetime of excuses for putting your dreams in the background. But this idea just won’t leave me alone, I am on a mission to make a difference in an area I know I can, and there is no time to waist. If I can get to the Appster Rapid Start Workshop in Melbourne before Christmas, I will have a great to do list ready to kick-start 2015.

I have decided that goals cannot be ‘wishy washy’, they have to be specific, concise, valued and acted on. The message from the last ‘Dru Ignite Your Dreams’ weekend is still ringing loud and clear to me, ‘Those dreams that keep coming into your mind align with your true purpose, don’t ignore them.’   I take my idea that swirls around my head and enter the heart of the city. As I am unfamiliar with Melbourne and making apps for that matter, I am way out of my comfort zone. I visualize not being nervous and expressing my idea confidently. The Appster team put me at ease right away. They are so friendly and yet extremely professional. Once again my instincts have led me to the perfect place, it feels right in every cell of my body.

And then it happened… the idea came to life! It spilled out of my mouth and appeared on the white board as we brainstormed its possibility for 3 days. The concept of how I could help cancer patients transformed into a well structured, well designed, well thought out app that I am very excited about. I returned to Sydney airport 9pm Wednesday evening with a notebook that probably won’t be out of my sight for the next few months. I will squeeze this wonderful goal into the gaps in between bookwork, harvest meal preparations, housework, school sporting events and end of year speech and awards nights.

And as for being a terrible farmers wife, Howard wouldn’t have it any other way!

Harvest is going very well and the mustard will be ready for harvest tomorrow after being cut earlier. It will be another early harvest, which we love. I will get out there tomorrow and take some photos for you to enjoy.

Have a fabulous week!
